Andrea Rizzini is a security researcher and PhD student at the Politechnic of Milan, in collaboration with Horizen Labs, where he works in the Cryptography Research team. His interests include cryptography applied to blockchain, spanning privacy and compliance, zero-knowledge, verifiability, and emerging AI-related topics that leverage blockchain technology. Andrea has published papers and presented talks at various conferences and workshops in privacy and Web3: IEEE CISOSE 2025 (best student paper award), DLT 2025, E-Privacy 2025, and PERCOM BRAIN 2026, with works ranging from novel compliance features for private transfers on Ethereum, to conditional backdoors leveraging witness encryption, and an encrypted messaging app that uses Ethereum as the transport layer. His most recent work explores the landscape of secure and verifiable federated learning using smart contracts as an attestation mechanism to enable distributed and trustless AI training.
